Marty Sheppard

Spey Expert

Favorite Fish:  Steelhead

Home Water:  Deschutes River

Born in 1971, Marty grew up on the banks of the Sandy River and landed his first Steelhead at the age of 5 in 1976. His dad had a great influence and took him fishing everyday. Much of Marty’s fly fishing inspiration came from reading books as a kid. Roderick Haig-Brown and Bill McMillan were huge contributors through their writing. As a teenager in the late 80’s Steve Kruse taught Marty the art of speycasting. Steve was instrumental in helping Marty and his wife Mia in acquiring Little Creek Outfitters and jump starting their guiding/outfitter career in the late 90’s (Mia is the brains of the outfit, Marty provides the sexy casts).

Marty guides year round on the Sandy, John Day, Grande Ronde, Clackamas and Klickitat rivers. When he’s not out fishing, you’ll probably find him at home with his daughter, Tegan.
